Introduction The Utah Association of Community Services (UACS) was established in 1973 and we are an organization of forty private agencies that assist people with disabilities through our Utah.
The majority of our member organizations were started over 25 years ago by families with loved ones with disabilities and several still remain within school districts. Member organizations are licensed by the State and contract with the Department of Human Services, primarily the Division of Services for People with Disabilities, The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation, and Work Force Services to assist individuals living in their homes and communities through quality services including residential, day training, supported employment, family support, and respite care.
Each year UACS's providers service over 5,000 people with developmental and other types of disabilities in over 400 sites throughout our state. As an organization, The Utah Association of Community Services supports our members through training, such as our "Support, Options, Actions for Respect – Approaches for Positive Interactions" employee training, technical assistance, and peer review to ensure standards of quality services.
All of our members are experienced, highly qualified, and respected in our field. Each member organization is managed and structured differently, to offer their own variety and style of services. One of our many strengths is that you as individuals and families have an array of choices, various approaches, philosophies, and services among our different member's organizations to best meet your own needs.
As members of UACS we want to ensure that the individuals we serve have many choices to develop a good match. We feel it is important that individuals and their families learn about and explore all the possibilities as you select your services and a provider. We welcome you and hope that this guide will be a helpful resource to assist you in finding a provider whose philosophy and services reflects your own.
